Mr. Hawkins, the founder of NDHA, is an AV Preeminent rated attorney, a member of the College of the State Bar of Texas, the author of "Texas Trusts & Clauses" published by James Publishing and a well-recognized attorney in the fields of taxation and estates and trusts. During the course of his career, Mr. Hawkins has handled:
(1) Business transactions of all types, including purchases and sales of businesses; formation, mergers and termination and winding up of entities; shareholder agreements; employment contracts with closely-held businesses and with publicly held companies; real estate sales; and international transactions;
(2) Estate planning, including formation of estate plans; drafting of wills (pour-over and wills creating testamentary trusts); trusts (living and testamentary, revocable and irrevocable, irrevocable life insurance trusts and charitable remainder trusts); ancillary estate planning documents (such as durable and medical powers of attorney and living wills); probating of wills and probate litigation; and
(3) Tax controversy and litigation representation (generally subject to certain minimum limitations), including IRS appeals; sales and use tax appeals before the Texas Comptroller; negotiated installment payment agreements; settled numerous tax liabilities by submitting offers in compromise; litigated in the United States Tax Court and United States District Court, and represented non-filers.
